Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 package saltines or graham crackers
- 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or almonds)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange saltines in a single layer.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil and thickens slightly, about 3-4 minutes.
- Pour the hot caramel over the saltines, spreading evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes until bubbly and golden around the edges.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle with chopped nuts and vanilla extract, then cool completely before breaking into pieces.
Notes
- Use high-quality butter for richer flavor.
- Ensure an even layer of caramel for consistent texture.
- Allow to cool fully to let the toffee set properly.
