Scale
- 1 whole turkey (12-14 pounds)
- 1/4 cup olive oil or melted butter
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, quartered
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Pat turkey dry and rub with olive oil or butter.
- Mix salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder; season turkey inside and out.
- Stuff the cavity with herbs, garlic, and onion.
- Tie legs and tuck wing tips. Place on a rack in a roasting pan.
- Roast turkey, basting occasionally, until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), about 13-15 minutes per pound.
- Rest turkey for at least 20 minutes before carving. Serve warm.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness.
- Resting the turkey helps juices redistribute for moist meat.
