- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips or chunks
- Food coloring (orange, green)
- Icing for decorating faces
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream butter, sugars, egg, and vanilla until fluffy. Gradually mix dry ingredients.
- Shape dough into balls, flatten slightly, and place on baking sheet.
- Insert chunks of milk chocolate into the center of each cookie, shaping around it.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Let cool.
- Decorate with icing to create spooky faces and add green stems for jack-o’-lanterns.
Notes
- Chill dough for easier handling if sticky.
- Use different colored icing for variety in decorations.
